- Make sure the pumpkins do not have any mold, especially around the stem.
- Make sure when you knock on the pumpkin it has a nice full sound.
- Look all around the pumpkin for scratches and dents.
- Extra pumpkin tip: Pumpkin planters (figure A) are a great way to decorate your porch or patio area. They are colorful and inexpensive. Once you put the plant in the ground, you can just cut up the pumpkin and add it to your compost heap.
