Janeen Miller and Sean Hogue say they want guests to "feel that they are are the treasures of our lives".
Janeen Miller and Sean Hogue selected Biltmore Estate in Asheville, North Carolina, for a destination wedding and reception. The romantic locale is one full of meaning for the couple -- the two became engaged there.

Miller -- an attorney -- used her negotiating skills to get the prices on everything from her dress to an all-inclusive reception for 140 guests. The couple worked with a wedding coordinator to help things run smoothly.

Nicole Bloom, catering and sales manager at Biltmore Estate, offers some tips for selecting the best caterer and reception location.

    • First, make the guest list. This will determine where you should have the reception. Expect the reception to take fifty-percent of your total wedding budget.

    • Next, research caterers where your wedding will be held. Ask for references and photos.

    • Don't be afraid to ask questions. You'll need to know exactly what's included (for example, if you will need additional rentals not supplied by the caterer or reception venue).

    • Make sure a banquet or catering manager will be on-site on your wedding day.

    • Book in advance (usually one year in advance) and get a signed contract with the specifics spelled out.
