    Canvas Treasure Box

    1. Paint both sides and all edges of both canvases. Let dry.

    2. To create the book front, tear one piece of Circus paper to approximately 5.5" x 5x5". Edge the paper on the Circus side with Vintage Photo and Black Soot. Glue to front side of one canvas.

    3. Scuff the surface of Red slide mount with sandpaper. Rub Vintage Photo Ink directly onto the slide mount. Remove excess ink from the surface with a paper towel. Lay the slide mount on front of the canvas and lightly mark the inside area of the slide mount placement on the paper. Fill this area in by applying a dark coat of Black Soot ink.

    4. Apply Antique Linen ink directly to the surface of the black and white glossy photo. Rub off excess ink with a paper towel. Using Cut N Dry Marker Nibs, color areas of photo with Fired Brick and Peeled Paint ink (figure A). Cut image out of the photo.

    5. Attach photo to slide mount with a single layer of foam squares. Apply a single layer of foam squares to the back of the photo. Apply a double layer of foam squares to the back of the slide mount (figure B).

    6. Cut out two of the Admit One tickets from the Circus paper. Edge with Black Soot ink. Clip together with a black wire clip (figure C). Attach with a double layer of foam squares.

    7. To create the book inside, cut a 5-3/4" x 5-3/4" square from two of the Circus papers. Be sure not to cut one of the Admit One tickets. Apply green pigment ink around the edge of each inner square on the back of the canvases. Lay the Circus paper image side down on top of the canvas back.

    8. Press down on middle area to pick up impression from the green ink. Cut out a square from each paper following the green impression lines. Glue paper to each canvas.

    9. Edge the paper with Black Soot and Vintage Photo.

    10. Stamp the words Cirque Life in Black Soot. Cut words from Cuttables #0756 and glue to the corner edges of the inside squares. Cut out Clown face from Circus paper and glue to top left corner of right collage square. Cut out Admit One ticket from Circus paper, edge with Black Soot and glue to bottom right corner of right canvas.

    11. For the left square collage, cut out clown from leftover Circus paper and glue to the canvas. Edge small color photo with Black Soot ink. Glue to leftover yellow side of Circus paper. Mount to a piece of red card stock with a single layer of foam squares. Attach to canvas with a single layer of foam squares.

    12. For the right square collage, punch face out of small black and white photo with 1" round punch. Glue photo to Red bottle cap. Cut words from Cuttables #0751 and #0755 and glue to the canvas. Cut out ticket from Cuttable strip #0753 and glue to ledge. Attach bottle cap to canvas with a double layer of foam squares.

    13. For the binding, attach buttons to the spine side of the canvas by hammering one nail through one button hole into the canvas. Be sure to leave enough space between button and canvas for thread to go around nail. Line buttons up evenly on each canvas, three on each canvas. Wrap waxed linen around each row of buttons with nails, binding the two canvases together (figure D).
